The Collage on Canvas Workshop. part 2

Here are some examples of what creative canvas people have come up with.
In the December holidays I had the first childrens workshop. A bunch of excitied children ranging from 7 to 10 had a glorious time and created the most beautiful works to take home with them.

The Collage on Canvas Workshop Part 1

Towards the end of 2010 I began to run these fun workshops. The workshops are a perfect place for one to relax and explore some aspects of creativity.
It has been so exciting for me to experience other peoples joy at painting and using pencils and the like in fun and interesting ways.

New beginnings

Starting grade one is usually a mixed bag of emotions and practical doings and this just for the mom. The child who is the happy little boy on his way to the grade one year ; well, he too has a mixed bag of responses.

It is Samuel's turn to go to "big School". It all starts tomorrow. Yesterday I finished marking his stationery( with some help from a friend). His school uniform is all marked and ready and well , he is ready too, I think!

As each of our boys has entered formal schooling we have had a small gathering of little children going to grade one. It has always been great thing to do and yesterday was no exception. A bunch of boys and two little girls arrived - uniform in hand and siblings to play - to have a play. The main aim of the afternoon was to dress in the said school uniform and take some sweet photos and then to pray for these children. After all going to grade one is a big step and I know my Sam is feeling a bit anxious.

The afternoon was a huge success. The children looked so grown up and sweet in their little uniforms. We prayed for them and then set them free for one last time to swim. Sam wanted to pray last night and his prayer was - Thank you Lord for all those friends in Uniform. Amen!

Jethro turns 5

We have just spent a glorious 10 days in Natal. We were privaledged to spend time with our lovely family in a place called Sheffield which is just up the North coast past Balito Bay. WE flew into the new Shaka Airport which is very swish and smart. The drive to the beach house is about 20 minutes from the new location. These Photos are taken at a litle farm. Jethro loved feeding all the animals and even enjoed a ride on a pony. He said ' I did not even need to walk because the horse walked for me."

This post is actually about Jethro. Jethro Nathan Falconer was born on the 5th January 2006. It was a hot day like any at this time of year in The Cape. Dougie knew Jethro was a boy and had kept it a secret from me until just before he was about to be born. Doug chose the name right then and there. Our choice had been either Jethro or Nathan and so he is Jethro Nathan.

Jethro is a delightful little boy. He plays hard, works hard , loves hard and fights hard. The great joy of knowing this little is a real blessing to us all. He is quick with a smile towards someone he knows and quick with a frown too. He loves to draw and is pretty good at it too. He loves peanut butter and pizza and chicken and that is about it. This year Jethro was in the Turtle group at nursery school and at times he really did not want to go to school. But as the year progressed, these times got less and less. He did not always like the children either. He does however have a small handful of firm favourite friends. Matty and Kiara rank highest and then a small little trickle of others he is getting to know.

Jethro loves his brother Samuel and Samuel, equally loves Jethro. At times they behave like twins do , creating their own little space and world of play, where noone else can enter. Tomorrow is Jethro's 5th birthday. I am amazed at the time that has passed since those first days of his little life. We love him dearly and thank God for this little boy. We pray that God will continue the work in this little boys life that not a day may go by that Jethro will not call Jesus " My Lord and My God".
